Happiness Project - Day 5

1. Writing you a postcard.
2. My old friend replied my email and it was just nice hearing back from him!
3. I went out with a colleague of mine to interview many bridal boutiques and well, it was definitely an interesting experience. Met so many nice and friendly people, and for that, I'm happy!
4. Got an email from you that says the skyline poster is on its way! I am super, duper excited! More on that later, I'll tell you the whole story when it arrives in my doorstep! :)
5. It's 9 pm and I'm going to sleep soon. Sleeping makes me happy.

No Regrets.

Something good will always come out of something bad. Don't be afraid to make mistakes.

Happiness Project - Day 4

It's a really crappy day for me, but I'm sticking to my Happiness Project, and here are the things I'm grateful for today:

1. I was re-reading my old emails and came across some emails from an old close friend that really brought a smile to my face. Memory really is a wonderful thing.
2. I am really grateful for my colleagues. They are all wonderful, amazing people that I feel so happy to have known. Today more than ever.
3. Comforting call from a friend (you know who you are). Thanks for letting me know you're there.

Happiness Project - Day 3

1. Enjoying hot Milo in the morning has never been this good..
2. Finished my article for today and started a bit for tomorrow.
3. Knocked off a little after six, which was a very rare occasion!
4. Had a really enjoyable time having dinner and talking with my colleague. Thank you for opening up to me. :)
5. She ran out of money on her cash card so we were stuck in the parking lot. We tried asking some random kid to help us top-up the cash card and we would pay him cash in return, and he looked at us so fearfully like we were gonna rob him blind. That was hilarious!
6. In the end, a really nice lady lent us her cash card and we drove away gratefully! Meeting random nice people is the best, don't you agree?

there’s a piece of you that’s here with me. it’s everywhere i go. it’s everything i see.

Happiness Project - Day 2

1. I got to the office early! (I walked breezily and calmly, instead of running late like usual..)
2. I read "One Day" all the way in the train, and it was a good book. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
3. I finished my article for the day! Yeay!
4. Went for a meeting with Boss and bumped into an old friend whom I haven't seen in months! Definitely made my day :)
5. Met my sister and cousin for dinner and I got this really delicious salmon fillet with fries and baked beans!

Sometimes i think that we waste our words. and we waste our moments. and we don’t take the time to say the things that are in our hearts when we have the chance.

Happiness Project - Day 1

1. Woke up late at 12 noon and sleeping makes me happy! It's such a luxury to be waking up late these days.
2. Had an amazing lunch at IMM, we tried out this Chinese restaurant and I ate so much good food!
3. Had pedicure with Sis. I love being pampered!
4. Got myself a new read! "One Day" by David Nicholls. So excited for the prospect of being engrossed in a book.
5. Talking to you now. :)

This picture brings a smile to my face, so I thought I'd share it here too. Seth and Summer are the cutest couple ever.

How you remind me.

But everybody moves on. Eventually.

Memories

I’m sorry for a lot of things, but most of all that I never got the chance to tell you that, no matter what happens next, I’ll never be anything but grateful for every moment I spent with you. And even though I keep fumbling for the right words, all I really wanted to say was thank you.

Pictures speak a thousand words

It's late afternoon on Saturday, and my weekend just officially started!

I'm on my way out now for hair color appointment, so I'm just doing a quick post now to share with you some amazing pictures that I came across. I'm so in love!

There's just something really amazing about seeing the lights and trails of the city, don't you think? Or maybe it is just me?

Hahaha. Alright, I'll write some more tonight! I'm so happy it's weekend and overall, it's been a pretty good week. I can't say the same for next week...I have a feeling it's gonna be really hectic. Better enjoy this peace while it lasts!

Musical??

So look what I found this morning!

Alright, not the keyboard. The keyboard has been there for years. I'm officially divorcing you right now if you don't know that! But the guitar!

The guitar! Hello?!!

So, 2 questions may come up to your mind. First being, "you can't play shit! Why the hell is the guitar there?!"

Second is, "you can't play shit! Why the hell is the guitar there?!!!!"

It touches me how much faith you have in my musical ability. After all, I'm a very musical person. I watched Les Miserables musical and I didn't fall asleep, I thoroughly enjoyed that. I watched The Sound of Music and Fiddler on The Roof, which are like, the ultimate classic musicals! And I am a certified bathroom singer and a grade 5 organist! (the last was when I was in junior high school. Since then, it has been questionable.)

So what would you doubt my passion for music?! And you're right, I can't play guitar for shit, but hey, I can learn. Right?

(As soon as I stop having long, fully-manicured nails, I will get on that, I promise!)

Alright, who am I kidding? The only person who could play the guitar is my cousin. Tonight we jammed to Justin Bieber's "Baby". Everyone protested but I didn't care, I kept on singing "Baby, baby, baby ohhhhh! Like baby, baby, baby noooooo!" shamelessly.

Random pictures again

So. I'm so happy it's Saturday and I have the day off from work. It's like, I'm so living in the moment right now that I don't even think about the busy days I will inevitably have in the next week. All I know is that today and tomorrow are still holidays, so I'm not even gonna let my mind wander off from that. Today is a huge slacking day, and I'm loving it!

So in this bimbotic moment (where I shall not use any parts of my brain to think of what to write, since I do that on daily basis already), I'm just gonna post some random pictures taken by my new camera! Who's got a new toy? Me! Me! Me! Pick me! Pick me!

Okay. Sorry about that. I warned you! I'm not gonna even think! My fingers are moving on their own!

So check this out. This is a pathetic little corner in my room (which is obviously, a huge mess) where I normally sit and use the computer. It's filled with my junk (hair dryer, books, and ridiculous amounts of cables swirling around), but that's not what I wanna show off here. Anyway, I really want to look for skyline poster to put on that empty wall right behind the table. I have yet to get one! Unbelievable!

The magazines that I keep in my desk at work. And the manager actually came to me one day a few months ago and gave me that little 'tiger' soft toy because I'm a tiger baby! So now that little tiger sits there all day, looking at me working with its two big cute eyes.

And this is my desktop wallpaper! I actually set my work computer to have similar wallpaper too. I don't know, I feel more inspired every time I see city structure and lights like this. I love it!

Eh, I have no explanation for this, aside from that I was just testing some features from my camera! Honest!

I use more contrast feature in this one. The color is probably a little darker than normal. Anyway, I'm loving the camera so far! See, now I have a reason to take more pictures again. Good for me, bad for you. Sorry!

Alright. It's past midnight now and I need to lie down! I need as much beauty sleep as I can get. Especially when I will have to stay 'til 8 for work this Monday. Yeah.

Tell me about your weekend too, though. Last night I had drinks with my colleagues after work, which was awesome. So, how's yours? Til next time, good night!

Saturday 17 April 2010

Be my friend.

Don’t walk behind me; I may not lead. Don’t walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.

Weeee-ather

Why is the weather so mean to us lately?

It always gets scorching hot in the afternoon when I go out for lunch, resulting in extreme perspiration and smelly armpit. And then I’m back in the comfort of my office, and suddenly the sun mellows a few notches. I grunt a little, but continue on working.

Around evening time, the sky starts to make certain blowing noises. Suddenly the sun is not only mellow anymore; it completely shies away from attention as if all of a sudden it catches a terrible stage-fright. It hides itself perfectly behind some thick brown clouds.

But fine. It doesn’t bother me as much.

Over the next hour or so, though, extreme transformation can be seen in the face of the sky. Now it turns completely dark. The sun is no longer in sight by this time and instead, more and more crazy, fierce-looking clouds are appearing. Their growling noises are louder; people in Johor Bahru probably can hear it too.

Some sights of lightning are witnessed. These lightning don’t mess around; they are extremely deadly and vicious. If you don’t want to get roasted to the skulls, you better don’t act tough.

So now there is a combination of deadly lightning and crazy amount of black clouds in the sky. The sun has admitted defeat after being K.O-ed by these dirty-mouth gangsters. It’s only a matter of time until they endow the entire Singapore , Johor and some say Batam with dirty, bad-ass water accompanied by violent winds that can knock down even Mike Tyson.

By 6, the rain is pouring down like cats and dogs, and any hope left for us to go home is completely nonexistent.

So what do we do? We can only stare blankly through the window, mentally cursing the rain, and continue working. Not because we want to, but because we have no choice. The boss passes through the room, sees how hardworking we are, and she smiles her evil grin.

And I want to lay my head down on you
Because you're the only solid thing in this room
A room full of changes, strangers, illusion, confusion.

My new toy =)

Yoooooo!!

This is gonna be a short post because it's 10 at night and I'm apparently a boring grandma right now who has to sleep past 10 simply because...well, I'm old and boring.

But! I'm excited to say that I've just got myself a brand new camera!

After pondering for..let me think, 2 days? Well, I knew I've wanted to get a new camera for a while now, and I've been missing the pleasure of taking pictures (not just of myself, please!) but there hasn't been that final push to say, "hey, okay, now I really need to get it soon."

So last weekend there was this electronic sale happening and I dragged my friend on a Friday night to check it out. Bless her, she agreed to accompany me. We headed straight to Canon booth immediately because everyone's been suggesting me to get Canon. The sales person at that time couldn't do much convincing though, so I wasn't one hundred percent sold. I told my friend I would think about it overnight and make up my mind.

All Saturday I kept pondering, and I was talking to a colleague of mine at work. She basically said, "Aiyah, just get it LAH. I mean, it's camera, and you need it. You will always use it." And my sister, although she was pretty neutral about it, also told me to better get a good one which costs more rather than something mediocre.

So I finally came to a conclusion to just get it. So what if I had to eat white rice just with soya sauce for the next week or so? So what?

I'm kidding, by the way. I don't know. I thought it was a pretty good deal, but who knows. I'm the most un-technical person out there.

Then, on Sunday, I dragged another friend to the sale again. What did I do to deserve such selfless friends like these! (I know you're reading, Nick, so you're welcome!) And after about 15 minutes of deliberation, we proceed to make a sale!

And check this out! Isn't this a beauty! I'm such a dork, I know. Please bear with me.

I haven't properly tested it out yet 'cos I just got it last night and I just managed to charge it. It's quite hectic at work today so there's no time to play camwhoring around the office. But! I'm excited nevertheless, and I'm gonna use it really soon!

Oh gosh. I didn't realize I was babbling. Yeah, that tends to happen. Okay, I'm gonna hit the sack then. Good night everyone!

Sweet Saturday

When they hang us up,
And nail us to the wall
And every blood bead falls its fall
In that moment, losing all,
I’ll still think you beautiful.

Blue Nails

A few weeks ago I paid a visit to a nail place for a much-needed manicure. I’ve always had variations of red color for my nails, so I wanted something different.

What could be better than blue, right? Well, it is uncommon, but that’s the whole point of it all! Anyway, the person who did my nails kept praising my ‘courage’ for deciding to paint my nails in this color. She kept asking, “Are you sure?” even though I looked neither stricken nor hesitant. If anything, I was excited!

Failed to see this however, she bombarded me with more questions like, “Aren’t you worried that people might stare at you?” as if having blue nails is the equivalent of growing another set of head or having four eyeballs.

“Eh. Nooooooooo.” I said, rather surprised that this seemed like such a big deal to her.

“You’re quite an adventurous and hip person, are you?” she added after a while.

"You know...For having blue nails," she said as if it was so obvious.

Jeeze louise!

Movie Quotes

"I love that you get cold when it is 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle in your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend a day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."

Welcoming April

So. The long weekend is over. Not that it was much of a long weekend for me, anyway. I worked during Good Friday so. But hey, I'm feeling quite good about everything right now.

Prolly because of this, but eh, no.

Work is doing well, I mean, it's work. When have it ever gone excellent? Haha. But I'd take 'well' anytime. I feel more involved in the company, and I'm the happiest at the end of every month. I give you one guess why. ;)

Sorry in advance for not updating this blog regularly anymore. Seriously, I have nothing interesting to say. I'm so boring now, I'm living vicariously through y'all. Perhaps also because all I do for work is write. And then I come home and write some more? Well, I am a nerd but even a nerd has to strike a balance sometimes.

But! Exciting things are about to happen! Our new magazine will be out in a month's time and I'm excited! Also, I'm looking forward to see my first byline in another magazine, which I'm sure you won't miss out since I'll be boasting about it here and maybe scanning it to the computer! And my best friend and I are planning for a trip to Aussie in a few months. EPIC!

Okay, I may explode if I get more excited than this, so I'm just gonna stop.

PS. I really need to get a new camera. Hey, there's a Great Electronic Sale this weekend, who wants to come with me? :)
