A Quick One =)

Really sorry!! I have no time to update this! Stick around, please. I'll get something done over the weekend, hopefully.

In the mean time, happy mid-week, everyone! I'm quite excited that my dad is coming tomorrow, I kinda miss the big guy. And I have an exciting project at work at the moment. Plus, this Saturday a few colleagues and I are covering a story for the website. In short, I'm pumped!

Gonna leave you guys with a quote:

Now and then it’s good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy.

Remember, it always seems impossible until it is done.

Cooking and Saturday night

Happy Sunday everyone!

I know, I'm way too cheerful for a Sunday morning! Well, not really, it's technically afternoon, ehem. We just cooked mac and cheese for lunch in the household, yo! And we didn't burn anything and it turned out pretty bloody good! Now that's what I call 'teamwork'!

(Yeah, we would lie through our gritted teeth even if it tasted bad, 'cos we wouldn't wanna admit we brought no good in the kitchen.) Not that I was speaking about myself.

I really have developed more and more interest in cooking these days! But the level of it isn't suitable for the general public yet, so I don't foresee myself inviting people over for dinner anytime soon. Hey, we gotta start somewhere, right? My family is the only people I know who would still love me even if I poison their insides. Others? I can't be sure. Hence.

But aside from babbling about my newfound talent (if you can call it that), I also wanna write about the great evening I had last night! We started out with this really gigantic, enormous, gluttinous dinner at a steamboat place near Bugis, and boy, I felt like my stomach was gonna explode!

It was just the two of us, and we ordered so much food like we were feeding the entire third world's countries! And you gotta see the fish steamboat! The size of it! For the life of me, I have never been that full (and so satisfied)! I especially loved the hot plate beancurd too. We finished everything though, (even though it almost killed us with pleasure) and it was amazing I could still stand up and walk right after that. I guess there is such thing as miracle in this world. I witnessed it firsthand.

After the dinner, we drove up to Labrador Park for a stroll (or to be exact, to walk this fishmeat which are still swimming inside our stomach), and it was my first time there! It was soooo pretty! You could practically see Sentosa island from there, and all the lights and ships and the sea! Surprisingly, I saw a lot of people and families fishing in there. It was kind of a heartwarming sight, like, the father and son bonded over fishing. Okay, maybe I was just being sentimentil. We walked right to the pier, to the end where we couldn't move forward anymore and there was just sea in front of us. It was really special.

I felt a lot better by then and we strolled right back to the car, blasted the music to the maximum volume and sang our hearts out. Oh, okay, I mean, I sang my heart out. My friend was just driving and shooting me amused look. What, never seen a girl sing? I just totally love driving at night when the road is deserted and all your hear is the music and your own heartbeat. Don't you think so? Very liberating!

We then made a stop at Holland Village to have some drinks! (What, the stomach for food is totally different from the one for beer! I especially have special 'compartment' for beer. Haha!) We had this smooth and fruity french beer, and bloody hell, my friend ordered pepperoni pizza! Goodness gracious, I can't imagine he could still eat after that crazy dinner!

It says 'fruity, imported', and 'refreshing' on the glass. Refreshing indeed.

The pizza. I took a bite and honestly couldn't eat anymore! He's so freaky, where did all the food go?!

We were at Wala Wala, by the way, and I love that place. We went upstairs to check out the live band but it was so full there weren't any place to sit. Downstairs, we could talk and watch (wait, take your pick) rugby, tennis, and football match. Three screens and all equally loaded with testosterone.

Had to call it a night, cos it was so late, but I was happy and lightheaded, too happy to feel sleepy.

During our way home, Good Girls Go Bad was blasting through the airwaves, and I'm constantly hooked on that tune, I think I kinda lost control at that point. Haha.

Last night was just so spontaneous and easy, I had so much fun!

Anyway, on another note, I'll be back in Jakarta for two weeks pretty soon, I wish I can still blog along the way, but I'm not sure how kind the internet connection will be out there, but I'm quite excited about going home actually! So this is gonna be good . . .

Have a good Sunday, everyone!

Home, away from home

Things have been....craaaazzzyyyyy!!!

Not mental, senile-kinda crazy, but the insanely good kinda crazy! (How vague can I be?)

Well, I'm sure I've mentioned this piece of information excessively often before, and even if not, you've probably seen the valid evidence on facebook! (yes, the fact that suddenly there are way too many unimportant self-taken pictures of myself and a cuter littler version of me.)

Who, you ask?

Eh, I don't know. I found her on the street, she looked exactly like me, just cuter and more innocent-looking, so I decided to adopt her. She lives with me now.

(I have to apologize profusely about the pictures, we took those from her phone camera, and the action itself was surprisingly addictive. Before I knew it, we have taken probably 30 pictures of the same people, doing the same thing, smiling the same smile, posing the same pose. I thought she could just choose one or two good ones to put up on the site, but she uploaded them all! I was fully at blame too. I could have untagged myself, or stopped her from doing so, but well, shame on me.)

Speaking candidly, yeah, my dad and baby sister have been here since last week, and we got our hands full! Home was louder, more crowded, more festive, and more home than ever. I love it! During dinner out together, or even just a simple time spent together at home, I felt very blessed to have them as my family. I couldn't ask for better. We aren't perfect, but it's the most familiar kind of imperfection. Things about them I've grown up with, I'm accustomed to, I've understood without even trying, I've memorized by heart. It's very oddly comforting.

Dad has left yesterday evening, so it's all just us girls here. And Cous, of course, who surprisingly fit right in despite the high level of estrogen. He didn't complain even once. =p

So thus, it's been a great week and sorry for the absence! I'll be updating it more regularly again. I do have lots of other lame rants to spill!

The good things (and everything else) that happened to me recently

The amazing cookies and cream milkshake at Cafe Galilee that has become a solace in my day-to-day routine. What's great about it, is that it's there all the time, always satisfying, and requires no effort on your part whatsoever to enjoy it, contrary to other things in life. Now every morning, as I sit in the library writing chinese characters (and attempting not to slaughter it at the same time), this milkshake is what keeps me going. Seems to me that this might be the most altruistic thing in life.

As a result of this, I'm now relatively well-known in the cafe as the 'cookies and cream gal'. This would be a great fact if, I'm given discount every now and then, for instance. But despite my continuous generousity in keeping the sales going, the only recognition I'm getting from these friendly waitresses is a question whether my eyes are real.

I finally caught up with a dear friend of mine whom I haven't seen in weeks, and I enjoyed our dinner tremendously. It involved fried calamari, fish and chips and catch of the day in peri-peri sauce and ridiculous amount of delicious garlic. The garlic itself might have sounded unappetizing, but let me tell you that the garlic is simply magic. It's like the sizzle that makes Robert Pattinson so sexy, if you get what I mean.

I got a free haircut a few days ago. All thanks to this really nice auntie who did my hair and insisted that she would waive my fee because I'm simply too beautiful. No, she didn't really say that. Actually, I've been a regular in the salon (maybe the only one), so perhaps she just wanted to show a token of appreciation. It wasn't an appreciation more than it was a threat, or a bribe to lure me come back and spend a ridiculous amount of money next time. It worked. I was so touched by her generousity that I almost gave her the money anyway, and when I was outside, I felt like a child having just stolen a pen from a store.

I'm making progress on my chinese class and both my teachers flattered me for being a 'fast learner'. I was so smug that I almost blurted, “Tell me something I haven't known.” But after that, I made a fool out of myself by saying 'women' out loud, when it's supposed to be 'wo men'. “This is chinese, not english!” my teacher said in exasperation.

I completed my yoga 10-weeks yoga program and now I'm as flexible as Mr. Fantastic. Maybe.

I've been reading good books and I found this to be very pleasurable. I finished Ryu Murakami's '69' in one and a half day and I'm currently hooked on Curtis Sittenfeld. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel so happy being engrossed in a good read, and although I may not get particularly smarter by reading endless amount of fiction, I think the experience of seeing the world from the perspective of different characters, and understanding them, is very exciting.

Overall, it's been a good week! I'm sorry for not updating and writing more often, but blogger is acting up. Actually, that's not all. I have been waiting for a spectacular experience I can share before writing again, but it's like waiting for a rocket to come. If I wait 'til a spectacular incident happens, you will have been over forty. This blog will have been moul-dy. They will have probably invented flying cars. Okay, I get the picture.

Nerdenstein

At the risk of sounding like a total nerd (which I totally am anyway), I'm hereby declaring my undying love for studying!

No, seriously. I know I've been very ungrateful, always complaining and whining during exam periods or assignments' deadlines, but in fact I've been taking those for granted. Afterall, after 16 years of studying, it's bound to happen sometimes.

Since then, I was focused on finding a job. It certainly didn't occur to me that it would be this hard, or this ridiculously frustrating. Even after getting jobs, there were still other things needed to be settled. And let's just say that these other things haven't worked out very well either.

In short, I decided to take up studying again, in the form of enrolling myself in a language school. My parents have encouraged me to learn chinese for as long as I could remember, but since I've been in school and I've been taking up internships and in the midst of still trying to be young and have fun, I just haven't gotten around to actually doing it.

Afterall, it wasn't really an urgent necessity, at least that's what I thought. I have a couple western friends who speak perfect chinese, that ought to put me to shame, but I'm not called shameless for nothing. I could always give blank look to people who talked to me in chinese, and in a sweet tone said, "oh sorry, I'm not from around here." Usually accompanied with some winking action. That ought to do the trick. They either would find me adorable and try their best to speak broken english, or they would...well, leave me alone. Which is fine by me.

Sometimes pretending to be Japanese works too. Except for that one time when someone approached and asked me whether I'm from Japan, and I shamelessly said yes, and then he started speaking fluent japanese and I was stoned. Epic fail!

Well, anyway, now seemed like a good time to finally learn the language so I did. It's just been a week, but I'm loving it so far. I missed being in a class, with the textbook, notepad and pen in hand, just learning something new. Speaking out, making mistakes, making notes, and all that jazz. Of course, the most awesome thing is finally finding out things I didn't know before.

I still think it doesn't sound quite right when I do speak chinese, I always feel that people might laugh or find me incredibly awkward and unnatural, but I suppose everyone feels the same way the first time around. Right?

Or maybe not. I was having dinner with a chinese friend a few days ago and I was practising some words, and he just laughed at me the whole time. "You sound like a caucasian speaking chinese!" he said. Very unhelpful. Well, it's not my fault my tongue isn't exactly designed to speak my supposedly-mother-tongue.

Still, I enjoy the process very, very much.

Latest

It's gonna be a short post today, cos I'm just giving a puke of updates! (Sorry, can't think of a better word..)

Anyway, I had a great day today! Well, I'm determined to make this an awesome week, with the KL trip this weekend (more of that later in another post, perhaps), and my aunt, uncle and cousins coming over on Thursday, also because I will be starting my chinese school next Monday. It won't be too time-consuming, but imagine months of intense chinese lessons everyday? I think there's a possibility I will speak chinese gibberish in my sleep! But on the other hand, I'm quite excited too. My parents have been encouraging me to learn the language for years, and I have been scolded often enough by local taxi drivers, that one day I just decided, FINE! I shall learn it, then! (Even though I never ever pictured myself speaking it. I don't think I have the right tongue for it, seriously.) But we shall see, who knows? Maybe I will actually *gasp!* enjoy it.

I met up with a friend today and we saw 'I Love You, Man' and may I just say that I loved it! I've been wanting to see this movie for a while, (Jason Segel, Adam Samberg, Paul Rudd?? Enough reasons?) but just never got the chance. It was a spontaneous plan, but I'm so glad I picked it. The movie's hilarious! I would totally recommend you guys to see it if you haven't already done so.

Equipped with an already giddy mood, I met another good friend of mine and we went to the Botanical Garden for a picnic and a change of scenery. We got there right at dusk and the sky's just so pretty. I love it when the sky turns orange, just a right on the sunset time. We took loads of silly pictures (well but of course), and overall, had a great time.

Well, I'll try to update more later this week, I'm super tired right now! Ciao. (Oh, wait, that's not in chinese. What the hell is 'goodbye' in chinese?) I'm officially hopeless.

Uncle and Aunt in Town

Hey guys! So this is the first entry of the new month, wooo! Are you excited? Are you, are you, are you, are you??

I feel like I need to write something good to commemorade this moment, but I'm afraid this is gonna be a short post. It's only 10 pm now but I've had a long day. My favorite uncle and aunt are in town, so I've spent the whole day today with them from Changi, Simei, Orchard, Clarke Quay to City Hall.

We had lunch at Food Republica in Wisma Atria, and a really great dinner at Shokudo in Raffles City Mall. I actually shouldn't eat that much (I'm officially on diet!) but well, I had salad! (plus pizza, omellette, and etc etc), but at leat I had my greens. Right? Fine, I'm in denial. I started drinking vegetable juice too, although in theory (and principle), drinking something green is just wrong!

Okay, now it's Friday, 9.34 am and yesterday went by like a breeze 'cos I was out with my aunt and uncle the whole day too. I'm so glad to spend time with them, in a way, my aunt becomes a sort of a mother figure to me, because she's Mom's sister and they're alike in so many ways. My aunt and uncle are very kind, warm people and I'm extremely blessed to have them in my life.

Yesterday morning we went to the hospital for my uncle's surgery. It sounded scary, but actually the surgery was a mild one. Still, though, the word surgery itself sent me off the roof, and it was like, opening up a whole box of bad memories I would rather forget. But, the good part is, it wasn't serious and everything went well. The procedure only took half an hour, and by noon we already left the hospital and moved on with our lives. I'd be very happy not to ever step a toe in a hospital every again.

I am never good with consoling people. It's funny 'cos I'd like to think that I'm good with people most of the time. Yet, throw me in a sensitive scenario and I find myself unable to think of something meaningful to say. Making jokes seem very inappropriate, yet talking about the problem brings no good either. Now I'm just glad that it's over and hopefully that'd be the end of it.

The day went great after that. We had lunch and stopped by the apartment where they stayed, and just hung out and talked. In the evening we went to Orchard and met my sister there. My uncle tried MOS burger and we had sushi dinner at Sushi Tei in Taka.

My right eye started to act up ever since the evening, for some reason it just got red and because we were out the whole day, I couldn't just take off my lense. I braced through it until I got home at 10.30 pm and by the time I took it off, my eye got significantly redder and swollen too. It's annoying! We were supposed to have lunch this afternoon before my aunt and uncle fly back to Jakarta today.

"Well, you wanna just wear an eye-patch to lunch later then?" my sister asked sweetly when I told her I may not be able to join her later if my eye doesn't get any better. Eye patch?!! Is she kidding? I've never seen anyone wear eye patch in real life apart from bad pirate movies.

I hope it gets better soon, cos it's 10 now and I better go and take a shower if I ever want to go. Well guys, I'll see you around. Have a great day!

Attica Friday

So yesterday night I was out in Clarke Quay with my two friends, again. I realized lately that I have been there much more than I normally do, not that there's anything wrong with it. Sometimes it's not much of the partying-aspect of it, it's just the feeling that you get when you're inside a club, absorbed with the music and ambience and the full-energized crowds, it's pretty awesome. Of course, since we're at it, we might as well dance our socks off, work out and burn out carbs in the process, and occasionally entertain random approaches by fellow cute partygoers.

It started early last night since I was out for karaoke session with my sister and cousin beforehand. They really are the best singing companions, because we all know the same songs and we can sing and act really dorkily to boybands and disney songs without weird glances from anyone. We went to the KTV place in Shenton Way, which I've never tried out before. KTV is supposedly better, (and more expensive, as it turns out) than our usual Kbox, but it was a good change for once-in-a-while-occasion. We had chicken wings and some assorted snacks and bubbles teas to last us the three-hours session. Blissfull.

Still in the pumped out mood from all those singing, I went straight to Clarke Quay to meet my friends and got it Attica a little before 11 for free. Now, I don't know if you've been to Attica, but it's my favorite club at the moment for the reason I can't quite pinpoint. My friend once joked and said that there's a saying: 'all roads lead to Attica', because of that precise appeal.

To me, whenever I go to Attica, I always have fun, and so the experience is never dissapointing.I would gladly go to Attica any day of the week, and we started going there on Friday night more instead of just the usual ladies night on Wednesday. The crowds are better, and yesterday wasn't an exception.

The first floor of the club is playing RnB music, while the second storey called Attica Too, is sporting techno. We always spend most of our time in the first floor, 'cos that's where we can really dance, and occasionally when we need to take a breather and get a change of scenery, we go upstairs and hang by the bar or join in the dance floor as well for a while. I secretly think that the people upstairs are much more good-looking, (although the chances of you being picked on by sleazy guys are much higher too.)

By the end of the night, my heels were killing me, but my spirit was high. As always, I had lots of fun and we met (and avoided) some fun crazy people. It's funny that after coming there regularly for a while, you start to recognize the fellow regulars as well. There were some guys there yesterday whom I have met last Wednesday and I just wanted to avoid them, so everytime he (the one person I would most like to avoid at all costs) was in near sight, my friend would hysterically yell, 'he's behind YOU' and I would run to the opposite direction as fast as I could. It happened a lot of times until I convinced myself the whole thing's just ridiculous. One minute we were dancing and laughing along, the next second I was scrambling and running away like I was a pickpocket.

ps. Remember when I mentioned in previous post that I never witnessed anything exciting? Well, last night when the club closed and we were resting our legs in the bench right outside, there was a little fight going on between a drunk caucasian man and the big Attica's bouncer. It was stupid, the bouncer was clearly twice his size, and it seems that he was drunk so most probably he was the one at fault, and he was yelling 'fuck you, you fag!' to the bouncer's face while the bouncer remained quiet, just fixing him an intense look. I wouldn't wanna be in his bad side, if I were him. But no fist fight happened, it was just slightly tense to witness, and in the end the fellow bouncers pushed him aside, and there was nothing left but the eerie silence of the dawn.

silence is gold. well, just this time.

It's so funny that after I wrote that entry about my preference to email, a few people started emailing me again, saying "damn, girl, you should've said that earlier!" Huh, how could this be my fault? Ha-ha. I appreciate the thoughts, though!

Anyway, there's nothing much that I want to write at the moment. Yesterday I went to the office to settle more administrative stuffs, yeah, paperwork, paperwork, yawn, yawn. I didn't want to tell people that I already got a job not because I was trying to hide it or anything, heck, why would I hide it? I would have screamed on top of my lungs and gulped ten shots of tequila if I could, that's how excited I was when I first got the news.

The reason that I haven't exactly told anyone, well, of course besides close family and friends, is that I can't help feeling anxious still. The company has extended their offer and although I haven't started work yet, things are official. But, there's still a matter of my employment pass. Yesterday after speaking again with the finance manager at the office, they have submitted my application to the government, and now all we can do is wait. Technically, everything should work out well, and in two to three weeks time, I will have gotten the approval and I can then, start my job.

However, me being miss panicky as I am, I keep thinking that things might go wrong in the process, that the government might find tiny little details that might jeopardize my visa being approved. What tiny details, I've no idea. And having been rejected for no reason at all when I applied for social pass extension a few months back made me skeptical, bitter, and extremely uncertain.

I thought, I wouldn't tell anyone until everything is final, until I know for sure that there won't be any problem with my employment pass, and then I will get wasted from tequila shots. And all that jazz. Real celebration will entail, and ridiculous amount of confetti will be dropped. And not a second earlier. I know, I'm so negative, but can you blame me, considering after the whole social-pass-debacle?

Some people knew, not many at all. Or so I thought. That's why I was very surprised that this morning a text message came from a friend I haven't heard in ages. In fact, she's more of an acquaintance rather than a friend, if you know what I mean. She congratulated me for my new job, and how she even knew about it, I couldn't possibly imagine.

So since apparently it's no longer news, I might as well say it here. I'm extremely excited for the job, but like I said, I'm kinda still at the edge of my seat about the whole visa thing. I just hope nothing goes wrong, and please don't let me jinx it.

(I don't even feel right taking about the job itself. You would think I'm gonna be mafia or a social worker or something humiliating. I'm not. Just cross that off your list and stop with the excessive imagination.)

Until then, I guess I'm staying sober. And trust me, when everything works out, there. will. be. confetti. and loudness. and hysteria. and lots and lots of alcohol. Ha!

No idea what I'm blabbering about.

So, even though things are starting to look up, it seems, I still managed to stress myself out with lots of 'what ifs' and negative thoughts. I am impossible to please. Impossible!

No, everything is good, I'm just being my old panicky-self, and despite the cool, calm weather (metaphore), I can't help feeling anxious as if a storm is about to hit anytime soon. Someone should slap me and say, 'Chill. Nothing bad is gonna happen, everything's good. Stop being so paranoid!'

(Instead, I spent too much time listening to this. An amazing song, and a few minutes later you would realize you've lost your appetite and the will to live. Okay, I exaggerated. The song's gloomy but I love it.)

I don't want to go into details right now, 'cos a lot are still in progress, but when I get everything confirmed, I will write, no, bore you to death with the updates. Hope it's gonna be great news! Martini for everyone! (Just keep your freshly-manicured fingers crossed for me!)

Speaking of martini, well, speaking of booze in general, I had an awesome weekend with the family. Sis got a new phone on Saturday after we spent a few hours visiting shops and comparing specs and prices (she got an all-touch-screen LG cookie!), and we had a great dinner, drinks and lots of tear-jerking, heart-to-heart conversation. Who am I kidding? We had gibberish talks, as usual. But it was amazing. Sis and I went for lunch and didn't even realize that we have been sitting there for 2 hours just talking. Rather loudly. (It wasn't me, I swear.)

These past few days I have managed to more books, done some writings, watched more movies, and I'm happy with the way things are going. Like I said, I should just stop being so anxious.

Anyway this entry has been a total gibberish. Let me put you out of your misery right now!

New things this week

1. I started twittering. Well, I've actually joined Twitter eons ago, but never really updated it since. In fact, my first entry there was in July last year when I wrote, "talking to my wonderful boyfriend, convincing him that Jason Mraz is cooler than ice cubes." Whoa, memorable enough? Anyway, if you do have twitter, please add me up, I wanna follow you! User's name is xteena21. I have to warn you though, that..[see next point.]

2. My life is not exactly exciting at the moment. (Yes, this deserves an entire number in itself. I can't even elaborate. Sad!)

3. I promise, though, that I won't just be writing 'I'm washing my hair', 'I'm having chicken rice for dinner', 'I'm peeing, be back in five' or anything of that sort in Twitter.

4. I made appointment for hair coloring today, and I was informed that the next available slot is on May 4th! What the, son of a biscuit! Who knew hair coloring is such a high demand? It's like, lining up for boob-job or something. At least with that I wouldn't be surprised.

5. One of my dearest friend is leaving Singapore for good, well, it's time for him to head back and make his country proud. How patriotic. That sucks though, because that means losing another good friend. I hate goodbyes.

6. I've watched excessive House lately, the whole first season in two days!

7. I wrote a long post on my thoughts on American Idol, because I love this season, but ended up deleting it 'cos it was too dorky, and nobody would even care about my love for Danny Gokey simply because of his uber cute glasses.

8.

When we met up in town. Hong's got a new haircut and it's funny 'cos we had the whole yellow-black thing going on accidentally enough.

9.

Blowing off some steam at Atticca and Zouk. It was such a fun night, we met other bunch of friends and danced our socks off.

10. I'm in love with the new apartment! I make excuse to go there eventhough there's nothing in it yet! Can't wait to see once it's furnished.

And then there's the great dinner at Dempsey, drinks at Emerald Hill, and buffet lunch at RajahInn. Man, no wonder I gained so much weight. Ah yes, I should put the gaining-weight thing in one of the point, but it's making me embarrassed.

Ah, and there you go, pukes of updates.

"transition"

Just a quick update! Yes, yes, I haven't been yammering here at all! Not because I'm busy or anything, in fact, it's the complete opposite! I'm so jobless it's not even funny anymore.

When I thought I would have had to start working last week, the night before I was with my friend and I was whining continuously, hoping I could still have a week or two of freedom before adulthood started. Guess what? I got what I wanted, and now I would give anything to be working. Be careful what you wish for, that's all I've gotta say.

Well, nah, in case you're curious, I wasn't fired on my first day! There has simply been a problem regarding my work permit, suffice to say I decided that the job wasn't worth it. So I'm back to square one, unemployed and broke. And it's not a good position to be in, especially when everyday you keep spending and spending, sometimes without even knowing what it is you're spending your money on. It's still a mystery to me.

I'm so stressed out and I need to know there will be light at the end of the tunnel! I need to know that I won't have my sexy arse kicked out from Singapore!

I'm just gonna be brainless today, but I'm gonna write something significant for a change later, I promise.

To A Special Friend

Meeting an old friend is always a pleasure. To me, it's one of the greatest feeling ever, and she is a special girl, the very first friend who stuck with me throughout my first two years in this foreign land. To say that she's a great friend is an understatement, because she is more than that.

I'd like to make sure that I still see her occasionally, even though 'occasionally' could strech to once every 6 months or even longer, but we tried. And eager as we always are, every meet-up feels just like the old times, like no time has passed, as if we're still those two younger girls who see each other everyday and go home together because our homes were only a few blocks away.

And of course, there is that favorite dessert place in Bugis. (^_^)

That easiness never changed, and we would spend hours laughing over anecdotes of our past years, wondering the whereabouts of our old friends, and filling each other's up on the recent news and updates.

And I wish it will always be like that, because yes, the classes that used to make us see each other everyday had to expire and yes, I may have moved to a different place now so we can't possibly just 'meet up in central in five minutes' like before, but everything's bound to be like that, just as we progress in life and move on.

But when we do make time for each other, which I hope I will never take for granted, that's how we would remember our friendship. Not of how we grew apart for all these years, and not about how we knew nothing about what's going on in the other's lives anymore, none of those.

Instead, perhaps it's better to think that despite all these, nothing has really changed, at least not when it comes to us.

Afterall, proximity sometimes has very little to do with what truly matters.

What makes her different, unfaltered despite months of absence, is her eagerness to open up yet again.

There is no need for each of us to even ask, "so, what's new?" because we would just straight away yap like there's no tomorrow and tell the other everything that comes to mind. (Even when she had what-it-seems-to-be-a-painful-eye-infection and she had to check her eyes every other minute because they're red and itchy, poor girl...)

So hours passed without us noticing and we parted with a promise to catch up again sometime soon.

"Definitely when I won't have to scratch my eyeballs out every few seconds!" she said.

Hear, hear! Hope your eyes get better, and don't ever change, dear friend.
